ShootQ Helps you Go Green!

We just found this great blog post from ShootQ community member and renaissance man, Eric Laurits.

Eric shared encouraging thoughts about how ShootQ helped him go paperless while providing his clients superlative service.

Eric says, "I am an eco-nerd and ShootQ allows me to do all of my booking online, eliminating any paper production. I built in communication templates that I can adjust and send out to my couples. ShootQ keeps my couples informed as to the status of their imagery, books, canvases, and it handles all of my invoicing, and best of all...it is completely customizable!"

One of ShootQ's goals is to make photographers more productive while keeping the environment free of excessive paper trails! Thanks Eric for being such an inspiration.

ShootQ Community Members Scott & Adina Hayne Featured in Rangefinder

 

We love surprises! This month, we opened our issue of Rangefinder magazine and saw a wonderful feature about ShootQ community members Scott and Adina Hayne. We always enjoy hearing from Scott and Adina, so we were thrilled to see their beautiful work and thoughtful ideas highlighted in Rangefinder. Worth the Wait: ShootQ v2 Progress Report

We've all heard that familiar expression, "Good things come to those who wait." 

We hate that expression! Who came up with that? We know how many photographers want ShootQ v2, and we want them to use v2 just as much as they do!

The ShootQ team is thankful for our community's patience and loyalty as we prepare for the launch of ShootQ v2. 

After thousands of hours and many months of intense work, we are excited to announce that ShootQ v2 has entered BETA, and we're migrating our current customers from v1 to v2 during this period.

Migration is going so well that we're ahead of schedule. In fact, we've re-adjusted anticipated migration dates, and we currently project that everyone will be done by January 10.

Out of courtesy to our current customers, we will give them an opportunity to migrate their accounts from v1 to v2 before we accept new customers. Therefore, we anticipate opening the doors to new accounts in mid-January. We look forward to welcoming you to the ShootQ community!

ShootQ Grant Featured in Rangefinder

We were excited to see ShootQ Grant featured in December's Rangefinder.

Sherrlyn is safely in Congo and has been updating us with regular progress reports.

We encourage the ShootQ community to keep her in your thoughts & prayers as she continues her important documentary work in Congo.

ShootQ Code Poet at PyWorks

ShootQ Code Poet Laureate, Jonathan LaCour, one of three original creators of Elixir, an object-relational database mapper for the Python programming language, gave a presentation last week at PyWorks, a Python coders geekfest in Atlanta. Jonathan helped invent Elixir to allow programmers to manipulate databases in very powerful ways, using much less code.

Elixir is used in hundreds of software projects throughout the world, and has been featured in several books. Elixir and the technology behind it power Reddit.com, Virgin Airways, FoxMarks, CharlieRose.com, and ShootQ!

An adage in business says: Always hire people who are smarter than you are. I think we got that one right!

ShootQ Grant Winner arrives in Congo

 

Please keep ShootQ Grant winner Sherrlyn Borkgren in your thoughts and prayers as she tells the stories of women and girls whose lives have been scarred by warfare. I spoke to Sherrlyn before she departed for Africa, and she was hopeful about her opportunity to shed light on individual stories in the midst of a dark period of civil unrest. 

The tension in Congo has increased and news reports share stories of innocent civilians fleeing refugee camps in search of safer havens. Sherrlyn's unflappable optimism and spirit of service inspire us! She never underestimates the power of compassion and hope.
