Sponsor Spotlight – Adobe

Why would you recommend Professional Photographers attend the conference? Events like WPPI which are very targeted at Wedding and Event shooters but can be somewhat overwhelming due to their size and the number of attendees. The Pictage Partner Conference tends to be a more intimate gathering — giving photographers more time to network and socialize with each other, presenters, and exhibitors. The common thread of being associated with Pictage helps push the strength of the overall Pictage community.

Why are you supporting the Pictage Partner Conference? A large portion of the Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom user base consists of Wedding and Event shooters. Pictage, being a leader in this space, has offered us the opportunity to speak directly to this constituency to ensure we’re providing them with the tools they need, and also to elicit feedback on how to improve our products as they pertain to this industry. What are you looking forward …

“I was blessed to have Maria and Brandon as one of my wedding couples in 2006 and I frequently call on Maria to model for me; this time I asked both Maria and Brandon to model for our PUG Roof Top group Shoot and as you can see, the results were stunning! Their chemistry is incredible – not much direction was necessary from the gallery of PUG photographers shooting – I suppose that was one of the reasons they fell in love and got married in the first place!  We started on the roof top of a parking garage in downtown Pittsburgh and then …

Inside the Image of Heather Fowler

Today’s image was given to us by Heather Fowler of Heather Fowler Photography and Pictage members since 2004…

“This is Rebecca and Shaun taken at Knowlton Mansion on May 4th, 2008.

The mansion has a cool space in the basement that is an old wine cellar. It is dark and dank smelling but all lit up with candles and they set out wine and cheese for guests.

The guests have to go down a long winding staircase to get to it. I cleared out the room of any guests, and I told the couple to go in that little nook and just be into each other. They seem REALLY into each other in such a strange space which makes it even more intimate. I put my flash behind them to get the sillouette look. I love how the flash lights up the bottom of her dress and the edges of their faces. I …

Mingle with Engle & N Phocus Photography

Describe your photography style or words that describe your brand? I try and keep it as fun and informal as possible. This way they are relaxed and more likely to experience true emotion which leads to perfect moments to capture. It’s all about the moments, however, the best moments are hard to catch. The more relaxed and comfortable your bride and groom are, the more moments you’ll have a chance to catch. I need to start hiring 2nd shooters!!! Is there anyone in LA who has nothing to do on a Saturday?

What is your favorite thing about Pictage? The Free Album Designs of course! The people are cool too. We have a lot of fun at the events. I hear the LA PUG is the place to be!

What lens could you not live without? I’d rather have my 70-200 I.S. than the keys to my Aston Martin.

How do you juggle your business and …

Speaker Spotlight – Jared Platt

We are very excited to have locked in a fabulous schedule of speakers for this year’s Pictage Partner Conference. We figure the more you know about what you will learn from each presentation, the better! Up until the conference, we will “spotlight” a different speaker each week. Thanks to Jared Platt for starting us off…

Jared’s topic is “Get Inspired – An Entertaining Look at the History of Photography”

What are the top 3 things you want attendees to take from your presentation? Going to Partner Con can be a bit of an overload for a photographer. So many presentations about what to do with your business, how to take better photos, how to blog, how to market, where to shop, what to say to a client, how to design albums, etc… I thought it would be fun to relax a bit, look back at the masters of the past, learn about …
